Quality Control Orders for eight chemicals till late 2025 and 2026

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has extended the enforcement dates of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for several chemicals. The notifications were published in the Gazette of India on 11 March 2025 and 19 March 2025 respectively, in consultation with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). 

Chemicals and revised enforcement dates  

The notification published on 11 March 2025 includes 6 chemicals:

Pyridine IS 8058: 2018 Pyridine- specification 13 March 2026 

The notification published on 19 March 2025 includes the following 2 chemicals:

p-Xylene IS 17370: 2023 p-Xylene-Specification 19 December 2025 
Polyurethanes IS 17397 (Part 1): 2022 Plastics- Thermoplastics Polyurethanes for Moulding and Extrusion part 1 Designation System and Specifications 19 December 2025 

The Quality Control Order mandates that the concerned substances carry the certification mark of the Bureau of Indian Standards, ensuring that the existing rules remain in force until the implementation of the new QCOs.
